Hallway Symphony

​In a school consisting of over 1,000 kids, the hallways create a cacophony of yelling and shouting, and adds to the students' already stressful day. ​

Using the MakeyMakey (an interactive USB keyboard) and some basic supplies, we created a giant layer of mats that created pleasant chimes when they were walked on by students.

What inspired you to do this?
Inspired by musician James Murphy's plan to create more musically aesthetically pleasing subway turnstiles, I had my 8th and 9th grade Digital Music classes plan out an idea that would make the hallways of our school less noisy and more relaxing.
