The JumpDrum
A wooden drum kit you play while standing and either dancing or bouncing or walking to activate the bass drum.
be the rhythm Imagine four tom-toms and a bass drum made out of wood. The toms are situated in front of you vertically, so you strike the top two at or above eye level. The bass drum is below you, activated by your shifting weight on a spring-board platform. It's a vertical drum kit you play while marching or dancing. It's also a great workout! See this video for how it works: https://youtu.be/iqcUaaSL2oc
Since I designed the JumpDrum I've lost 3 inches on my waistline just from testing it out a drum circles!
Frequently Asked Questions
What inspired you to do this?
I wanted a way to play drums without sitting down and without having to depress a pedal to actuate the bass drum.
How long did it take to make it?
about two years to get the design, then two more to redesign, then about a year to test.
How much did this cost to do?
It's hard to say how much it cost. I was living off my savings. My savings are pretty much gone now!
Have you done other things like this?
I've been a composer, orchestrator, and author. I had to teach myself wood working and metal working to build the prototypes. Each JumpDrum is hand-made by me.
What did you wish you knew before you started this?
I wish i knew how long it would take for it to take off!
Are there plans available to make this? Do you sell this?
I was selling the older version. New folding design is in the works. Will be available soon.
What’s next?
I'm looking for investors to open a flagship JumpDrum Fit studio from which we will livestream classes like the Peloton model.
Resoures?
I learned everything from YouTube.
