Deep Rooted by Clare Phelps and freeform delusion
A fusion of artistic mediums, circuit bending and arcylic painting
Deep Rooted We wanted to collaborate on an artwork that combined acrylic painting with circuit bending to create an interesting and unique piece of visual & audio art.
Two FM3 Buddha Machines have been attached to the canvas along with six speakers, three for each Buddha Machine. The Buddha Machines have been circuit bent by freeform delusion with a simple pitch control and white LEDs to compliment the painting under low lighting conditions.
Clare Phelps created the wonderful artwork which is a haunting image. The painting creeps over the Buddha Machines and surrounds the speakers turning them in to crater like structures.
This artwork can be used as a studio device to add effects or as a stand alone room ambience piece, where by the user can tune each Buddha Machine creating fascinating soundscapes in your own space as the speakers emit the audio.

freeform delusion : Circuit Bender
The maker freeform delusion
I have been circuit bending since 2009, what I love about it is the abundance of unique sounds you can create with modified devices. I think that is also the appeal circuit bending has to musicians so they add something new to their sound.
My circuit bends have been sold worldwide to various people from amateur musicians to established artists such as Mark Mothersbaugh from Devo and Mark Pritchard (Warp Records) Many of these musicians have used my circuit bends as part of their studio and live performances, which is great to know.
